- A transportation expo will be held at the Hale Senior Activity Center on August 10 between 9 a.m. and noon. Vendors will showcase current transit options, emerging possibilities, trends and future projects. - The new Pinellas County Schools Superintendent, Kevin Hendrick, will be holding various Listen & Learn community meetings throughout the district in the upcoming weeks. Hendrick is looking for community feedback as students work to get back to normal after dealing with challenges created by the COVID pandemic the past two years. He will be asking questions such as, "How does the student experience change after two years of virtual learning and being able to extend the school day? What do we need to see in classrooms? How do we make sure kids are really engaged with the content?? Each Listen & Learn meeting will focus on a different topic. A meeting discussing performing and visual arts is tentatively scheduled in Dunedin for August 17 in the Dunedin Fine Art Center at 6 p.m. See the full schedule of meetings at the link. (ABC Action News Tampa Bay)
- The Purple Heart Recognition Ceremony is scheduled for August 7 at 6 p.m. at Purple Heart Park. The community is invited to join the city as they honor and pay tribute to veterans with a special focus on Purple Heart recipients. National Purple Heart Day is observed on August 7 each year and is a time for Americans to remember and honor the brave men and women who represented our country and were either wounded on the battlefield or paid the ultimate sacrifice with their lives. This is a free event. All are welcome! (Dunedin Gov)
