Kirk Church Pumpkin Patch
Kirk Church, 2686 Bayshore Blvd., just north of Curlew Road in Dunedin, has more than 3,000 pumpkins with four professionally designed photo spots in its pumpkin patch. All proceeds go to the annual Santa event that provides more than 350 children with a moment with Santa and a Christmas gift.
The pumpkins come from an organization called PumpkinsUSA in New Mexico that helps nonprofit organizations raise funds while employing Navajo Native American staff (including management) and, during harvest, Zuni and Hopi tribe members as well. The unemployment rate on the Navajo Reservation is 42 percent.
