13 Residents Apply for East Lake Fire Commission Seat

Over the next few weeks, East Lake Fire Commissioners will be reviewing the qualifications of 13 residents who've applied to serve the remainder of commissioner Flo Galloway's term. 

Galloway, who has served on seat 4 of the commission since 2010, is planning on moving back to her home state of Ohio to be closer to family. She hopes to move sometime in July. Her term ends in November of 2014.

"The seat technically won't be vacant until she leaves," said East Lake Fire Chief Tom Jamison.

Jamison says the board of fire commissioners will announce which candidate will be appointed to serve the remainder of Galloway's term on July 23. The position pays $500 per month.

The following East Lake residents have applied for seat 4 on the East Lake Fire Commission. They are listed in alphabetical order-

• J. Randall Burr- Current Position: High Risk Team Leader at Fireman's Insurance Company

• John Byrnes- Former New York City Police Dept. Sergeant

• Ellen Cohen- Current Position: Assistant Controller at Ecenda, a subsidiary of AmerisourceBergen

• Wayne Ferguson- Former East Lake Fire Commissioner

• John Hall- Current Position: Business Development Manager, New Brunswick International

• Michael Handoga- Current Position: Assistant Fire Chief at Largo Fire Rescue

• Sharon Hurst- Former Director of Group Benefits and Administration, Home Shopping Network

• Jean Johnson- Former Community Board President, Treasurer and Secretary

• Robert Kushel- Current Position: Information Tech at Information Technology Inc.

• Tom McQueen- Current Position: Brand Development Executive at Dimmitt Automotive Group

• Micheal Peasley- Current Position: President of Peasley and Peasley Investigations Inc.

• Paul Erik Van Schaick- Retired Massachusetts State Police Trooper

• Lauralee Westine- Current Position: Land Use, Zoning, Permitting, Local Government and Licensing Attorney
