East Lake Fire Rescue Elects Two New Commissioners

East Lake Fire Rescue welcomes new fire commissioners James Dalrymple and Kevin Kenney.

From East Lake Fire Rescue: East Lake Fire Rescue Welcomes New Fire Commissioners The voters in the East Lake Fire Control District elected 2 new commissioners in November: James Dalrymple and Kevin Kenney.

James Dalrymple has lived in the East Lake District for 25 years, been happilymarried 36 years, has 2 adult children and 7 grandchildren all of which livein the East Lake community. Jim Dalrymple retired in March 2016 after 27 1/2years at East Lake Fire Rescue. He served as a Lieutenant, Training Officer,Fire Inspector and Union Vice President.Previously Jim Dalrymple has been involved in other community activities through church, coaching youth sports and serving on the Upper Pinellas SportsComplex Board of Directors. Jim Dalrymple replaces Commissioner Paul Ferreri, who did not seek reelection.

Kevin Kenney was raised in San Diego, and moved to Florida with his family in2012. He retired in 2014 as a US Navy Captain with 30 years' service anddecided to drop anchor in beautiful Pinellas County. While in the Navy he wasa carrier aviator and test pilot, with 7 deployments and over 5500 hours offlight time in over 50 different types of aircraft. He is a combat veteran ofOperations DESERT STORM and IRAQI FREEDOM, and has been awarded the VolunteerService Medal, Bronze Star, Legion of Merit and Defense Superior ServiceMedal. His last job in the Navy was as the Professor of Naval Science at USF, where he taught Leadership, Management, and Ethics.

Kevin Kenney has a BS in Public Administration from the University of Southern California (Cum Laude), an MS in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Tennessee, and an MA in Policy and Strategic Planning from the Naval War College. Additionally, he is a graduate of the United States Navy Test Pilot School, Class 101, and a member of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots.While in the Navy he commanded Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron 7, Test and Evaluation Squadron One, and the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Unit,University of South Florida.Kevin Kenney has been happily married to Susan Kenney for the past 27 years.They have two wonderful daughters, Kaitlyn and Kristen. He currently serves as president of the Carlyle Lakes HOA in Lansbrook, has been a kayaking coach for Special Olympics and an assisted sports coach for wounded warriors with the VA.Kevin Kenney currently works in Tampa for CAE, the world's largest manufacturer of flight simulators, where he is a test pilot and capture manager.The new commissioners will serve 4 year terms.
