East Lake’s Weber to Throw Out First Pitch At Rays Game
The Pinellas County Firefighter of the Year will be honored at Tropicana Field

TARPON SPRINGS, FL – As a member of the East Lake Fire Rescue, Danny Weber is used to battling heat. However, Weber will be looking to throw some heat instead this weekend.
In honor of receiving the Morroni Award as the Pinellas County Firefighter of the Year, as well as being named his district’s Firefighter of the Year, Weber will throw out the first pitch at the Tampa Bay Rays game on Saturday, Aug. 20 during First Responders Night at Tropicana Field.
It has been a lifelong dream for Weber to throw out a first pitch at a baseball game. East Lake Fire Rescue captured the moment when he was notified:
Members of the East Lake Fire Rescue squad will be attending the game as well to show support for Weber.
Weber received the district and county awards thanks to his heroic actions while on duty June 12, 2015. A Tampa Bay-area woman lost control of her car and drove into a pond. A witness called 911 and East Lake Fire Rescue arrived on the scene within minutes.
Without hesitation, Weber jumped into the pond and made his way to the vehicle. Weber used a glass-breaking tool on the driver’s side window and pulled the victim out of the sinking vehicle.
Weber is the father of two young boys and has been married for 10 years. He has been a firefighter paramedic for seven years and has served the East Lake community since 2014.
The Rays will face the Texas Rangers during First Responders Night, with game time scheduled for 6:10 p.m. The ceremonial first pitch usually takes place around 15 minutes before the start of the game, but the time may vary.
