4 Questions for New East Lake Fire Rescue Commissioner Randy Burr

East Lake resident Randy Burr was recently picked to succeed East Lake Fire Commissioner Flo Galloway, who moved to Ohio.

Burr is a 17-year resident of East Lake who has volunteered with East Lake Fire Rescue(ELFR) and also plays Santa during the ELFR's the annual Santa Truck rides in the community. Burr's background is in the insurance industry. He is a High Risk Team Leader at Fireman's Insurance Company.

Patch: What do you bring to the board?

Randy Burr: Hopefully, some energy. A new perspective. I have some history with the board. I've been to several meetings. I've volunteered here for a number of years and I'm very much looking forward to being a part of this group.

Patch: What do you think is East Lake Fire Rescue's biggest asset?

Randy Burr: The department personnel. They've been great with the community and I'd really hope to see that continue.

Patch: As a new board member, what project do you want to tackle?

Randy Burr: Certainly the budget. We're going to have to look at the budget and make sure that all the financial figures are in line with what we need to do.

Patch: What's your favorite thing about living in East Lake?

Randy Burr: There's no other place in Pinellas County like it.
