Little Greek Brings Big Flavor To East Lake

With a hospitable staff and consistently fresh food, it's no secret why Little Greek has expanded into a country-wide franchise.

Finding success as a small business in East Lake can be rough, but the folks at Little Greek seem to have it down to a science.

Patrons are greeted with warm smiles, joyous hellos and authentic Greek music when they walk through the door at the East Lake establishment.

Little Greek signatures include the Greek salad, the traditional pita and the chicken or pork souvlaki.

Prices range from the $5.19 mini Greek salad to the $7.69 fried grouper sandwich to the $12.99 lamb or steak kebabs.

Seating is varied, from indoor booths and tables to a dog-friendly outdoor patio.

Although Little Greek has grown from a single store to a Tampa Bay-only franchise to now, a country-wide phenomenon, its roots are in East Lake.

In 2004, Sigrid Bratic was on a trip to Florida when she stumbled upon the space at 320 East Lake Road, which at the time was a Greek restaurant with a different name.

Bratic eventually bought the store and partnered with Nick Vojnovic to create Little Greek and turned it into the fastest-growing casual Greek food chain, according to a brochure at the restaurant. The duo opened five stores in five months at the chain's start in 2011.

Given the friendliness of the service, the freshness of the food and the enticing atmosphere, we give Little Greek 4.5 Patch stars.
