New Irish Pub Coming to Trinity

The people behind Palm Harbor's J.C. Craver's and Ozona Tavern are teaming up with a friend to bring a new pub to our area.

A taste of Ireland is coming to the Trinity Commons shopping center.

Fiddlers Green is a new Irish pub and restaurant that is opening this weekend.

The new establishment is owned by husband and wife Vince and Kelly LaMattina, who happen to have just opened Ozona Tavern last Tuesday in the Ozona community of Palm Harbor. The couple's good friend Paul Quigley, who is originally from Dublin, Ireland is a co-owner of Fiddler's Green.

The owners tout Fiddlers Green as a traditional Irish pub. The menu includes traditional pub fare like corned beef and cabbage, fish and chips, shepherds pie and bangers and mash. It also serves a variety of sandwiches and burgers, including a South Philly sandwich and banger hoagie.

Fiddlers Green will also be a place to find live music, as well as TVs showing soccer, hockey and American football.

And, of course, “you’re going to get the most perfect pint of Guinness,” said Quigley, who says he used to run an Irish pub in Boston.

The LaMattinas, originally from Quebec, Canada, are veteran business owners who started J.C. Craver’s Bar and Grill in Ozona in 2009. They sold their business but bought it back this year and converted it into the Ozona Tavern.

The LaMattinas have been friends with Quigley for about 10 years. They discovered a vacant spot at the Trinity Commons shopping center on Mitchell Blvd. That vacant spot used to house the Blarney Stone, an Irish pub that opened in 2011 and closed its doors last year.

The pub’s insignia bears the image of a fleur-de-lis, which appears on the flag of Quebec, and a clover, a symbol of Ireland.

Asked what makes the pub special, Vince LaMattina said:

“We have a passion for what we do. We’re not just looking for customers. We’re looking for friends in the community.”

Want to check out at Fiddlers Green? It opens its doors Aug. 4 at 7813 Mitchell Blvd. in Trinity Commons shopping center, in Trinity.

The pub will also be holding its grand opening ceremony Aug. 16. The ceremony will feature popular band The Black Honkeys, Kelly LaMattina said. They are scheduled to take the stage at 9 p.m. at the grand opening, she said.

The pub hours will be:

  • Monday-Thursday: 3 p.m.-12 a.m.
  • Friday: 3 p.m.-2 a.m.
  • Saturday: 11 a.m.- 2 a.m.
  • Sunday: 11-a.m.-2 a.m.
