Oldsmar Man Threatened Staff at Mease Countryside Hospital, Deputies Say

Walter William Manning, 62, of Oldsmar, was intoxicated and yelling "in an aggressive manner" at Mease Countryside Hospital's emergency room staff, according to an arrest affidavit.

An Oldsmar man was taken away in handcuffs after Pinellas County Sheriff's Deputies say he threatened staff at Mease Countryside Hospital on Saturday night.

Walter William Manning, 62, of Oldsmar is charged with disorderly intoxication (in a public place), disorderly intoxication (endangering others), and violation of domestic violence protection order.

According to an arrest affidavit, at about 9 p.m. on Aug. 10, 2013, Manning was intoxicated and yelling "in an aggressive manner" at Mease Countryside Hospital's emergency room staff.

Several injured and sick patients were in the emergency room at the time.

Manning, who had been discharged from the hospital, also raised his voice several times and ran out to the emergency room hallway and threatened medical staff, according to deputies.

The arrest affidavit also mentioned that Manning appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and appeared to suffer from mental health issues.

No one was injured during the incident and no weapons were involved.

Federal HIPPA laws prevent the release of information regarding why Manning had been hospitalized.

He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail where he remains as of Tuesday evening. Bond was set at $5,613.

Mease Countryside Hospital is located on McMullen Booth Road in Safety Harbor.
