Galloway is serving her second term on the commission. Flo Galloway filled her late husband Jim's seat on the board from 2005 to 2008. He had served as a fire commissioner from 1998 until his death from lung cancer in 2005. Flo Galloway was elected to her current position on Seat 4 in 2010.

On Tuesday evening, the board also decided how Galloway's replacement will be selected. 13 East Lake residents have applied for the position. Commissioners will look over the candidates' qualification and rank the candidates. The top five candidates will be asked to attend a special meeting of the fire commission where they will be asked to speak. Board members might also ask the candidates questions. The meeting is open to the public and will be held at 6:30 p.m. on July 10 at Station 37, which is located at 3375 Tarpon Lake Boulevard in Palm Harbor.
