Pedestrian Killed While Crossing East Lake Road

EAST LAKE, FL — A 34-year-old Safety Harbor man has died after being struck by a car while walking across the intersection of East Lake Road and Woodlands Boulevard.

On July 4 at 3:09 a.m., Freddie Jakel Jones Jr., 24, of Trinity was driving a Hyundai Sonata north on East Lake Road approaching Woodlands Boulevard where he had a green light. As he entered the intersection, the Florida Highway Patrol said Jeffrey Michael Korth walked into the path of his car.

Korth was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital where he died of his injuries.
