Playful Paws Continues Success Streak

The folks at Playful Paws may have just opened in early 2013, but they are building a loyal following and adding education to their experience.

"We are the Cadillac in the area," Mel Gavron told Patch of his business Playful Paws, located at 830 East Lake Road.

The group of staff offer everything from daycare and grooming to boarding and training, making Playful Paws a one-stop-shop for any dog owner's needs.

Although the business just opened earlier this year, it is drawing a loyal slew of customers.

According to trainer-handler Sarah Holmes, word of mouth is the best kind of marketing. The services offered at Playful Paws are an automatic draw because of their exclusivity.

"We are pulling from everywhere," Holmes said. "It has really taken off."

Clearwater, New Port Richey and Spring Hill are a few of the areas Playful Paws pulls from.

With a large yard, experienced handlers and around the clock care, Holmes confirmed that there aren't any other venues offering what Playful Paws does.

Holmes is joined by handler Devin Lyman to complete daily tasks at Playful Paws. The duo have a history with animal care and Holmes describes the job as serendipitous.

More recently, Holmes was certified as a veterinarian's assistant, adding even more credibility to the East Lake business.

Although success has been bountiful in the area, Holmes said she doesn't think there are any plans of expanding just yet.

For now, the East Lake road location is keeping the group busy.

"People always say, 'you have the best job,'" Holmes told Patch. "And I can't really argue with that."
