Police: Drunk Woman Head Butts Officer

A Tarpon Springs woman is facing multiple charges after being arrested on August 4.

Police say a Tarpon Springs woman was drunk when she bit, kicked and head butted an officer last weekend.

Shannon Hardiman, 29, of Tarpon Springs, was walking down East Boyer Avenue when a passing officer noticed her "stumbling down the street."

According to an arrest affidavit, Hardiman was sporting a blue, plastic cup when the officer approached her. When she realized the officer was coming, she emptied the cup and continued walking.

The officer on scene described the liquid from the cup as "having a very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage."

Hardiman continued walking, despite the officer's attempt to confront her.

While trying to speak with Hardiman, the officer watched her start yelling at an observer nearby. According to the affidavit, Hardiman took "an aggressive stance" towards the man and acted "like she was going to physically attack him."

Police officers intervened and arrested Hardiman before she could harm the man, but they did note she got off a single punch to his chest. However, Hardiman's struggle did not end there.

Once Hardiman was brought into custody, police says "she was very combative."

After that, Hardiman reportedly kicked an officer in the face, bit his forearm and head butted him in the face before being secured.

Hardiman was arrested on multiple charges including resisting an officer without violence, brawling and battery on a law enforcement officer.

She was later released on her own recognizance.
