Room For Improvement

by Kandice Blackman on September 13
September 7th the Tigers walked into the biggest tournament of the season hoping to gain some recognition within their region. But after a long weekend, they came up rather short, winning only one of four games. Beating Trinity Baptist College in a 3-0 match cleared the Tigers from being fourth place in the region kick-off tourney.
Even with the three losses that weekend there were still some promising moments throughout the other 9 sets. Starting setter for the Tigers, Celeste Mata was able to create massive plays even with the lack of defense. Emily Hethorn kept the Tiger’s alive with a combined 12 aces, and Lauren Ober with 26 kills. This was still not enough to pull the Tiger’s to a high seed in NCCAA Division II Volleyball.
There is something that the team as a whole is missing, communication and footwork. The team noticed this when they came back to home grounds hosting Florida National University. There was potential to win, but the Tigers again fell short losing 3-0, a point score of 75-50. Following on September 13th Johnson and Wales came up to continue their winning streak, and they did just that! Not without a fight though, all three sets the Trinity Tigers played hard and with the help of their fans, Trinity was able to build momentum. Next, on the 18th of September, the Tigers are looking to get an exciting home win against Florida College at 6 pm!
