State Biologists Want Residents To Report Rare Snake Sightings

Biologists with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission are asking people to keep an eye out for certain rare snakes.

It's no secret that East Lake is home to plenty of critters.

But now, biologists with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission are asking people to keep an eye out for a certain type of critter, rare snakes.

Biologists want the public to report rare snake sightings online.

The three rare snakes you should report include-


The FWC says these three types of snakes are found in dry, upland habitats and spend most of their time underground.

They are occasionally seen moving along the surface or crossing a road.

For each report, citizens are asked to provide the location where they saw the snake and the month and year the observation occurred. They also ask that you submit photos whenever possible, to help with snake identification.
