Tampa Woman Dies After Crashing Into Pond On East Lake Road

EASTLAKE, FL - A 22-year-old Tampa woman has died following an accident New Year's Day on East Lake Road.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 6:40 a.m., the Tampa woman was driving south on East Lake Road south of Trinity Boulevard when she lost control of her car.

The car rotated onto the grass shoulder, struck a sewer air release valve and collided with a handrail before dropping 20 feet into a pond.

The woman died at the scene.
