Twinkies Return To East Lake

After an eight-month absence from store shelves, Hostess snack products have returned to East Lake. The new Twinkies have a slightly different recipe that increases their shelf life from 26 days to 45 days.

Check out what we spotted Tuesday at the Ridgemoor Publix. The grocery store has a small selection of Hostess products, including Twinkies.

Hostess snacks disappeared from store shelves across the country last November when the company shut down. Since then, Hostess was purchased for $410 million dollars by the private equity firms Apollo Global Management and C. Dean Metropoulous, according a report in the Chicago Tribune. The new Twinkies have a slightly different recipe that increases their shelf life from 26 days to 45 days.

We checked around East Lake and did not see any other stores selling Hostess brand snacks. A clerk at the East Lake Target said the store expects to get Hostess snacks around July 21.
