What Death Row is Like for Man Who Murdered Palm Harbor Girl

Here's a look at death row living conditions of Larry Eugene Mann, who was convicted in the 1980 murder of 10-year-old Elisa Nelson of Palm Harbor. Mann is scheduled to die by lethal injection on April 10, 2013.

On March 19, 1981, a Pinellas County jury convicted Larry Eugene Mann, 59, of first degree murder and kidnapping in connection with the death of 10-year-old Elisa Nelson of Palm Harbor. Mann was sentenced to death for the first degree murder conviction and an additional 99 years in prison to run consecutively, according to state records.

Mann currently resides on death row at the Starke Florida State Prison. While on death row, Mann is confined in a cell that is 6 x 9 feet and 9.5 feet high. His cell does not have air conditioning. Mann is given three meals a day, which are served on a tray with a spork. 

Mann is allowed visitors, but visitors must be approved in advance. Mann is allowed to shower every other day. He can receive mail every day except holidays and weekends. He is allowed to have a 13" television in his cell, but does not have cable television service. He is allowed to have a radio and to eat snacks.

Mann is allowed visitors, but visitors must be approved in advance. Mann can shower every other day. He wears the same blue-colored pants as other inmates, however his t-shirt, like other death row inmates, is orange.

Mann is scheduled to die by lethal injection at 6 p.m. April 10, 2013. He may request a last meal prior to execution. To avoid extravagance, the last meal must not cost more than $40 and must be purchased locally. Mann will be executed by a private citizen, who is paid $150 per execution. State law allows for the citizen's identity to remain anonymous.
