When Do East Lake Kids Go Back to School?
Pinellas County school children only have a short time left on their summer break before the 2016-17 academic year gets under way.

EAST LAKE, FL — Those long, lazy days of summer are fast coming to a close for kids who attend public schools in the East Lake area.
Students enrolled in Pinellas County Schools will hear their first bells on Wednesday, Aug. 10. That comes just a little bit earlier than the end of summer in other nearby counties, such as Pasco where students don’t have to hit the books until Aug. 15.
While Pinellas County kids go back to class sooner than others, they do get a day off shortly after the new school year starts. The first holiday is Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5. After that, kids in Pinellas County don’t get a day off until Oct. 12, which is a teacher planning day following the Oct. 11 end of the first quarter.

Thanksgiving break in Pinellas County is scheduled for Nov. 21-25. The winter holidays run Dec. 19 through Jan. 2, which kids returning to school on Jan. 3.
