Happy Mother’s Day From Kelly
"Thank you for your protection, your patience and your love."

In celebration of Mother's Day on Sunday May 13, we asked Patch readers to write a letter to their mother and let us deliver it. This is Kelly's letter to her mom:
Dear Mom,
I want to start off my saying I appreciate you, as a woman and a mother. I’m not the best with words, but on this day I would like to recognize you for the love, sacrifices and support you give to both myself and my children. I don’t think a daughter can truly appreciate the heart and soul it takes to be a mom until she herself experiences the strength and insane amount of unconditional love it requires.
In the past few years that I’ve struggled with my own demons, you’ve shown up. Not just for myself, but for Ambrose and my kids. Having a grandmother like you is a saving grace in our lives. Flying back and forth from Florida to Connecticut to be present when I could not demonstrates the love you have for your family.
Things that I have missed recently in their lives (at first I was resentful but now I am grateful) makes me realize how lucky we are as a family unit. With all the mistakes I’ve made in 40 years, the work you had to put in to love me is immense. I feel so blessed that Kaitlyn and Chase have you. As their mother, I now know that although my love for them is unmeasurable, it’s really hard at times.
Thank you for your protection, your patience and your love. Although today we aren’t all together, know that you are in our hearts — not just today, but every single day. I hope you have a Mother’s Day filled with joy and hope, and carry with you memories of the past and happy memories to be made. Happy Mother’s Day, Mom.
With Love,
Kelly
