17 Gulfport Businesses Accept Strawless Summer Challenge
Seventeen Gulfport restaurants, bars and cafes have now taken the city up on its Strawless Summer Challenge.

GULFPORT, FL -- Seventeen Gulfport restaurants, bars and cafes have now taken the city up on its Strawless Summer Challenge.
With the revelation that plastic straws are responsible for the deaths of thousands of marine animals and sea birds, the city of Gulfport has challenged restaurants, bars, cafes and street vendors to find an alternative to plastic straws. From July 1 to Sept. 30, the city is asking businesses to voluntarily abstain from giving out plastic straws unless requested by the customer.
Participating businesses will be spotlighted on the city’s website and social media efforts. Businesses that successfully complete the Strawless Summer Challenge will receive a photo spotlight on the city’s website for one year.
