'Alley of the Arts' Becomes Gulfport Landmark

With support from locals and a proclamation from the city, the "Alley of the Arts" has an official home in Gulfport.

The city adopted a new piece to the Gulfport puzzle on Tuesday night, with local artist, on hand to accept the proclamation. Located immediately east of Beach Boulevard between 28th Ave. S. and 29th Ave. S., the "Alley of the Arts" is now a staple in the heart of downtown Gulfport.

The alley includes Owen Pach's Art Studio, The Schork~Munsell Studios 2 and Victoria Wenners' art space.

Although the spot is just now being recognized by the city, the "Alley of the Arts" has earned popularity in recent months. Hosting events like the gallery, ". . . On My Mind" short plays and participating in happenings like the , it seems like the crew of artists had a head start.

Mayor Mike Yakes awarded the plaque and emphasized the impact that art has on the community. “Local artists are the source of continued revolutions,” said Yakes.

"Alley of the Arts" artist, Owen Pach received the proclamation with a smile.

Visit the Alley of the Arts at this weekend’s third Saturday Art Walk celebration from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.
