Gulfport's Gecko Ball 'Geckostock' Coming Soon; Tickets Still Available!

GULFPORT, FL – A limited number of tickets are still available for the Ninth Annual Gecko Ball, Gulfport’s party of the year, set for Aug. 26.

This year, with the theme “Geckostock!”will be a psychedelic-era celebration of the legendary 1969 Woodstock Festival with planned over-the-top revelry and a costume contest.

“Geckostock” will be at the historic waterfront Gulfport Casino Ballroom, at 5500 Shore Blvd. South, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. with silent and live auctions, dancing and live music by the Throwback Band. There will be a full cash bar serving geckotinis, hippie juice and other cocktail specials, plus passed hors d’oeuvres and tapas.

Tickets are $35 per person and are on sale at the Gulfport Welcome Center at 3101 Beach Blvd. South, at the Gulfport Beach Bazaar, 3115 Beach Blvd. South, or online at VisitGulfportFlorida.com. The Gecko Ball sells out every year, so organizers advise those interested should purchase tickets as soon as possible.

The Gecko Ball occurs one week prior to the 17th Annual GeckoFest street festival set for Sept. 2. The Tenth Annual Gecko Crawl will be held Aug. 12 this year, and the third annual “Art Gecko Show” will be during the month of August, with the opening reception on Aug. 4.

All Gecko events are sponsored by the non-profit Gulfport Merchants Association and a portion of proceeds is donated to local charities each year. Community Support Grants this year will be made to the Creative Play Preschool and the Sonia Plotnick Health Fund.
