Gulfport To Honor Local Blues Legend Sterling Magee; Screen Film
The acclaimed documentary 'Satan And Adam' will be shown as part of the birthday celebration on May 18.
GULFPORT, FL -- The Enroy Foundation Inc., a 501(c) 3 committed to the visual and performing arts in the Tampa Bay area, has announced the formation of a partnership with recently launched creative arts agency Carroway + Rose and the city of Gulfport to bring the film "Satan and Adam" to the Catherine A. Hickman Theater on May 18 at 6 p.m..
Advance ticketing information will be released in the coming days and donations are welcome, with proceeds going to the Magee family.
The film showcases the story of local blues legend Sterling "Mister Satan" Magee and his harmonica-playing partner Adam Gussow through the highs and lows of a musical journey that has critics and audiences alike raving.

Garnering national and international accolades at venues like the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City and The Calgary International Film festival, among several others, the film was awarded winner of the Grand Jury Prize of the Nashville Festival and has been lauded by the New York Times, Los Angeles Times and publications across the country.
Maureen Kilroy, who along with her husband Larry Enlow runs Enroy Foundation, commented on bringing the film to town, saying, “We were lucky to catch a little piece of Gulfport magic Tuesday evenings at the Peninsula Inn courtyard when talented local musicians would come out to play the blues with Sterling McGee. When James Briggs from Carroway + Rose invited Enroy Foundation Inc. to be involved in bringing this documentary film to Gulfport, we jumped at the opportunity.”

Added Briggs, owner and creative director of Carroway + Rose, “When I became aware of this film and the importance of Mr. Magee to the people of Gulfport, our firm wanted to offer it as a sign of our gratitude for being welcomed into the community. I knew immediately I wanted Larry and Maureen at the Enroy Foundation to be a part of bringing the film home to Gulfport. This desire became more immediate after meeting with Mr. Magee. I was honored to talk blues with him and grateful to share the news that we were offering this showing with all proceeds going to his family. It's going to be a celebration of his legacy.”
The film will be part of a birthday celebration for Magee, who celebrates his birthday on May 20. The film is open to the public with a $20 suggested donation. Additional ticketing options being announced in the coming days.

In conjunction with Carroway + Rose, the Enroy Foundation will present an evening of Cajun and other roots music with Gulfport Swamp Opera and friends on Saturday, May 4.
This will also be the official launch party for Carroway + Rose's opening in Gulfport. Led by James Briggs, Carroway + Rose works with artists and performers as well as organizations like the Enroy Foundation to develop more effective branding and marketing strategies.
