GULFPORT, FL — A Gulfport man has been hospitalized with a traumatic brain injury after being beaten with a metal baseball bat. Gulfport Police have charged his roommate with aggravated battery.

According to Gulfport Police, at 3:39 a.m. Tuesday, officers were called to the 5600 block of Tangerine Avenue South where they found a man in critical condition after being beaten on the head and body.

The man's roommate, Stephen Moran, 41, admitted to police that he beat his roommate with a metal baseball bat after becoming upset over the way his roommate handled money.

The injured roommate, whose identity has not been revealed, was taken to Bayfront Medical Center to be treated for a traumatic brain injury.

Moran was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon causing great bodily harm.
