GULFPORT, FL — Bands and businesses from around the region will descend on the stage at Cage Brewing Sunday to celebrate the one-year anniversary of The Laura Shepherd Show, a bi-weekly broadcast of good news and music broadcast live every other Sunday from Gulfport.

Shepherd, host of the live show on Facebook and a veteran on the music scene herself, has been hosting the show for a year now, and guests from throughout the inaugural season will be on hand to celebrate.

“The Laura Shepherd Show celebrates local, creative positivity and I’m excited to be a part of marking this endeavor’s first anniversary,” said Gulfport Mayor Sam Henderson who, along with his band, will kick off the festivities on Sunday. “This is going to be a great afternoon of music.”

Musical favorites from throughout the region will be on hand for the show, including The Wandering Hours, Deb Ruby, Duke McComis, Este Loves, Maybell and Outlaw Fancy and The Mandelbrots. They’ll join Gulfport’s own Stone Handy, Bud Good, Hunter Fletcher and the Gulfport Swamp Opera in wishing Shepherd well as she enters into year two.

Shepherd will also perform, bringing her catalog of original and uplifting folk tunes to keep the audience moving.

“I am committed to the idea that I can raise the vibration of the planet by producing one hour of good news every other Sunday. We bring real music and real businesses and groups with real people making real change to our audience and this show is going to be a big example of that,” said Shepherd.

“What Laura has been able to accomplish in just a year is amazing,” said James Briggs, owner of Carroway + Rose and a collaborator on the show. “To have this many guests from the show’s first year want to come back – we’re looking at over a dozen bands alone – is a testament to how highly the community thinks of Laura. And she’s earned it. She’s as fine a person as she is a performer or a talk show host, and that’s saying a lot."

The show is free and open to the public. It takes place from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cage Brewing, 2001 1st Ave S. Filmed in front of a live audience, Shepherd's bi-weekly show is a fixture in the Gulfport community, bringing in leading local businesses, nonprofits and musicians to create an hour’s worth of good news every other Sunday morning.

For this anniversary event, Shepherd has added some flair to the occasion, setting up an additional stage for her business and nonprofit guests beside the main bandstand. There will also be a green room set up for visitors to record their own unique memories of the show and well wishes for Laura.

“We’re looking forward to seeing old friends and new visitors to this beautiful space on Sunday at Cage Brewing. Something’s gonna happen and it could be good, and we hope you’re a part of it,” said Shepherd.
