Man Charged In Sexual Assault Of Boca Ciega High School Student

GULFPORT, FL - A 24-year-old transient man from Pinellas County has been charged with the sexual battery of a Boca Ciega High School student last November.

According to Gulfport Police, Javontae Summers was arrested on Monday after he was matched to DNA evidence found at the crime scene.

On Nov. 26, 2018, a 17-year-old girl was walking onto the high school campus when a man ran up behind her, forced her to the ground and sexually assaulted her. The student tried to fight off the man and screamed for help just as a teacher was arriving at the school. That's when the man fled.

Summers was located at the Pinellas County Courthouse where he was taken into custody.
