Memory Cafe Experience Comes to Downtown St. Petersburg

If you're concerned about your memory or have a dementia diagnosis please join us August 9th for a unique social event at the Hollander Hotel.

This is an opportunity for you and your caregiver to get out, meet new people, share stories, learn a little, laugh a little, and make new friends in a safe and friendly environment.

The first of its kind in downtown St. Petersburg, the Hollander Hotel Memory Café get-together is scheduled for Wednesday, August 9th from 11:15am-1pm. The Hollander Hotel is located at 421 4th Ave. North, St. Petersburg, Fl. 33701. This Memory Café is FREE to attend. Food and beverages are available for purchase. A simplified menu has been designed to make ordering easier.

Like the Gulfport Memory Cafe which launched in February, the Hollander Hotel Memory Café is being sponsored by Cate McCarty, PhD of Dr. Cate, Dementia Coach, and Jane Ogilvie, LPN, Elder Care Issue Consultant of Senior Solutions of Pinellas County. Jane and Cate are committed to promoting quality of life, and raising dementia awareness. Both understand dementia professionally, and on a personal level. They’re excited to be working with the Hollander to bring their unique version of Memory Café to the downtown area of St. Petersburg.

The Memory Café concept originated in the UK. It’s popularity and helpfulness has proven to be one of the most effective means in combatting loneliness, embarrassment, and stigma. The Hollander Memory Café and the Gulfport Memory Café have been created to support the mission of the Purple Angel Global Dementia Awareness project.

Join us for lunch on August 9th. This event will be held at the same time, (11:15am-1pm), every 3rd Wednesday, at the Hollander Hotel.
