Michael J. Yakes Foundation Collects Hurricane Supplies
Starting Sept. 10, Gulfport Mayor Emeritus Michael J. Yakes is collecting hurricane relief supplies for the Bahamas.

GULFPORT, FL — Starting Sept. 10, Gulfport Mayor Emeritus Michael J. Yakes is placing a 15-foot Uhaul truck on standby at the Michael J. Yakes Recreation Complex, 5730 Shore Blvd. S., to collect needed supplies for Hurricane Dorian victims.
Residents can donate supplies at the Gulfport Recreation Center at 5730 Shore Blvd. S. Donations will be aimed at the long-term recovery of the Bahamas and support communities in need of humanitarian aid and disaster relief.
The Michael J. Yakes Foundation is seeking items such as diapers for infants, generators, batteries, fans, pet food, sunscreen, disinfectant wipes, bug spray, mosquito nets, flashlights, gas cans, duct tape, work gloves and extension cords.
