After years of being a standout in the community, the Spirit of Gulfport Award is is served to one of America's and Gulfport's bravest.
Few residents receive the Spirit of Gulfport Award, but one to add to the list is Irving Zeider. On Tuesday night, Zeider was recognized by the Gulfport City Council as the recipient of the prestigious distinction.
Zeider served the American armed forces during war times and according to Mayor Mike Yakes, he is held in “high esteem” around the city.
“In areas that he walks, it just examples his pride and his contribution,” said Mayor Yakes.
Zeider received a framed document certifying his status in Gulfport. He was also awarded a lapel and a key to the City of Gulfport. Mayor Yakes said that the award represents “the love and care” that the city has for Zeider and his family.
