Today in Gulfport: Oktoberfest, Duffers Ball, Haunted Houses

It's Friday, Oct. 11! Here's what you need to know today in Gulfport!

Annual Oktoberfest: Just a heads up! The 37th Annual Oktoberfest kicks off in less than a week! Come out to Holy Name Church at 5800 15th Ave S. starting on Thursday, Oct. 17 through Sunday, Oct. 20. There will be games, rides, food, drinks and rides for the kids! For more information call the parish office at (727) 347-9989.

Duffers Ball: One week from today, you can come out and help the Gulfport Senior Center by participating in the Duffers Ball on Friday, Oct. 18 from 7 - 10 p.m. The event will feature a costume contest, live music, 3-hole golf putting contest, prizes and more. Ticket are $20 and can be purchased at the Senior Center and Beach Bazaar.

Newton's Haunts: Come out to the 5600 block of Newton Ave S. starting on Friday, Oct. 11 to see two local haunted houses. For all the details about dates and times, check out the event in our free community calendar.

Free Bike Helmets at Amscot locations: Here’s one for your calendar. Tampa Bay area Amscot Financial offices are teaming up with local law enforcement agencies to give away free bike helmets to kids on Saturday, Oct. 19. The giveaway is for kids in pre-school through elementary school and takes place from 9 a.m. to noon at several locations in the Bay area. Check out the Amscot website for more details and a full list of participating locations.

Sunny!: Looks like it's going to be sunny today with a high of 86. Tonight, it'll be mostly clear with a low of 73.
