What Do You Think Of The Gulfport Police Department?

The Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation will arrive on April 24 to assess the Gulfport Police Department's compliance.

GULFPORT, FL -- Gulfport Police Chief Robert Vincent says assessors from the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation will arrive on April 24 to assess the Gulfport Police Department's compliance with peer reviewed standards.

The department received initial accreditation from CFA in February 2000 and has maintained an accredited status since.

Assessors will examine all aspects of policies, procedures, management, operations and support services. The department has to comply with approximately 260 standards to maintain its accredited status.

As part of the on-site assessment, agency members and the general public are invited to offer comments to the assessment team. Comments must be in writing and must address the agency's ability to comply with CFA standards. A copy of the standards are available through the police department's Professional Standards Section at (727) 893-1111.

The accreditation manager for the Gulfport Police Department is Cmdr. Joshua Stone. The assessment team is comprised of law enforcement practitioners from similar agencies: Lt. Mark Buffington from the Indian River County Sheriff's Office, Sgt. Keith Quick from the Venice Police Department and Meghan Warman from the Palatka Police Department.
