Active Shooter Preparedness Training At Polk Sheriff's Office
The Polk County Sheriff's Office will teach locals how to protect themselves during an active shooter situation at a free upcoming workshop.

WINTER HAVEN, FL — Polk County residents can learn protection skills against a gunman in the upcoming free "Surviving An Active Assailant" training in Winter Haven.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office is offering the 2-hour course at the Sheriff's Operation Center. Participants will learn how to prepare for, prevent and respond to an active shooter at a church, school or business. The "Run, Hide, Fight," training model will be taught, including tactics and strategies of what to do when law enforcement arrives, deputies said.
Officers will discuss the potential role of Florida concealed weapons license holders and the legal justification of "lethal engagement" with an active assailant.

If you want to attend the training Saturday, May 22, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m, PSCO Sheriff's Operations Center, 1891 Jim Keene Blvd., Winter Haven. RSVP to crimeprevention@polksheriff.org.
