Foster Volleyball hosts Florida New Year's 2018 tourney
Tournament echoes the strong growth of volleyball in Florida
Foster Volleyball Clinics is putting on the New Year's Classic that runs from Saturday January 6 to Sunday January 7, 2018 at various locations in the Clearwater area.
The event is a Regional Ranking event for Florida Region of USA Volleyball. Teams will be awarded points for rankings at future volleyball events. The points ranking is used specifically for the USA Volleyball Regional Championships at the end of the indoor club season.
Tournament Director Mark Foster noted that volleyball is a very popular sport in the state of Florida and across the region and country. There are in excess of 15,000 girls participating in club volleyball in Florida alone. Club volleyball has allowed players access to strong competition. This competition also benefits players at the high school FHSAA level which leads to college scholarship opportunities.

Mr. Foster also wears the hat of "Coach Foster" for the club programs and at Indian Rocks Christian School. Mark just completed his 15th season at IRCS.
Beach Volleyball has also arrived at Indian Rocks Christian School. IRCS joins 21 Florida schools in offering beach volleyball through the Sunshine State Athletic Conference. Beach volleyball is the fastest growing sport in the NCAA. IRCS is committed to beach volleyball to the point that they broke ground on November 6 on their very own 4 court state of the art beach volleyball facility. Colleges such as University of Tampa, Florida Southern and St. Leo University have all built similar courts on campus and are fielding teams in the spring.
