Hurricane Irma: Lakeland Fire Suspends Operations
Due to heavy winds, the Lakeland Fire Department is suspending operations for the safety of its firefighters.

LAKELAND, FL — The Lakeland Fire Department is suspending operations as the winds from Hurricane Irma increase. Winds are over 50 miles per hour. The fire department tweeted Sunday that it would cease to run emergency calls and resume when "conditions improve."
