Lakeland Magic 2017-18 Season Announced

Basketball fans eager to see the Lakeland Magic in action at the RP Funding Center will get their chance in November.

LAKELAND, FL — Tampa Bay area hoops fans eager to see the Lakeland Magic in action at the RP Funding Center don’t have too much longer to wait. While the first game in the NBA G League team’s season is on the road, the home opener has been set for Nov. 10.

The Lakeland Magic’s inaugural season as the Orlando Magic’s G League team officially begins Nov. 4 at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. There the former Erie BayHawks will go up against the Iowa Wolves with a start time of 7 p.m. The 7 p.m. Nov. 10 home opener is set for a matchup against the Canton Charge.

The Orlando Magic announced its purchase of the BayHawks in December 2016. Renamed the Lakeland Magic and moved to Florida, the team is set to open its first training camp on Oct. 23 at Polk State College. The Lakeland Magic intend to provide game telecasts this season via Facebook Live.

G League teams play a 50-game regular season with 24 home, 24 away and two “neutral site games” set during the annual G League Showcase. This year’s showcase takes place in Mississauga, Ontario, Jan. 10-13. The Lakeland Magic are in the league’s Eastern Conference Southeast Division.

Season tickets, group tickets and suites are on sale now. Single-game ticket sales are set to begin on Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. To find out more about tickets, visit the Lakeland Magic website.
