Lakeland Man, Person Of Interest In Tampa Homicide: Sheriff

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — A 26-year-old Lakeland man is a person of interest in a Tampa homicide investigation, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

An adult male was found dead from a shooting in the parking lot of Fairfield Inn, 6720 Lakeview Center Drive, Tampa, just before midnight May 17, authorities said.

Detectives have identified 26-year-old Michael Godfrey Evans, of Lakeland, as a person of interest in this investigation.

"Detectives want to talk to Mr. Evans about what he may have heard or saw, Monday night, in the parking lot of the Fairfield Inn," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. "Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call HCSO at 813-247-8200."

Evans may be driving a black, four-door Honda Civic, pictured below, with Florida Tag LVWD26.
