Mulberry High School Football kicks off the 2017 season
Mulberry High School Head Football Coach Kenneth Grantham looks for a solid 2017 season. The team is coming off a 3-7 season however they bring solid experience on to the field this year. Mulberry opens the season at George Jenkins on Friday August 25th followed by a home game on Friday September 1 vs Poinciana.
Coach Grantham stated that practices this summer have been held after 6 pm to allow for cooler conditions. Ken stated that the safety and health of players is a major concern. "Staying hydrated" is paramount in practices today vs 10 to 15 years ago. Coaches think twice about putting a player back into a game if there is and injury issue.
Coach Grantham and four of his coaches also teach at the high school. Ken feels this is a big plus in being involved with the players and their studies. The students work hard all year round to stay in shape for the football season. The community is very supportive of the football and other programs. There is a solid youth football program that practices not far from the high school field.
