New Amazon Center Offers Job Opportunities To Polk County

AUBURNDALE, FL —Amazon has officially opened its 1-million-square-foot Auburndale fulfillment center that has provided hundreds of jobs for locals, and the facility is hiring for open positions.

The center opened on Sunday, and employees celebrated by taking fun photos their first day of employment. After a morning of learning and safety training, associates received the first item delivered to the building, a boat cover that fits a Budge 600 Denier.

Amazon said its Auburndale center will employ more than 500 full-time associates who will work alongside innovative technologies to pick, pack and ship larger-sized items to customers across the region, including bulk cleaning supplies and paper goods, sports equipment, pet food and supplies, electronics and household goods and other Amazon items.

"Amazon is proud to open a new fulfillment center in Auburndale, creating hundreds of new jobs that have competitive pay and benefits starting on day one,” said Ib Simpson, site leader of Amazon’s Auburndale fulfillment center. “This new building will also allow us to better serve our local customers, along with hundreds of local small businesses that work with Amazon to bring their products to customers across the state and around the world.”

The company said its starting pay is $15 minimum wage and up. Full-time employees are offered benefits, which include full health, vision and dental from day one, 401(k) with 50 percent company match, up to 20 weeks paid parental leave and access to Amazon’s innovative Career Choice program, which prepays 95 percent of tuition for courses in high-demand fields.
