Publix Recalls Turkey Over Possible Metal Contamination

Publix has recalled ground turkey products after its supplier discovered possible metal shaving contamination.

LAKELAND, FL — Publix customers with a taste for the grocery chain’s ground turkey are being asked to check their refrigerators and freezers. The Lakeland-based store has issued a recall on certain packages of meat after its supplier uncovered possible metal contamination.

The recall was prompted when employees of Prestage Foods of St. Pauls, North Carolina, found a problem with the company's processing equipment. Metal shavings were also found in a package of ground turkey packaged by the supplier, Publix reported on its website.
