2nd Suspect In Lakeland Shooting Arrested On Attempted Murder

Tampa police assisted Polk County deputies with the arrest of a second suspect accused of shooting at a Lakeland victim and into a home.

Marcel Bruce, 28, was arrested Sunday morning in Tampa on charges of attempted murder and shooting into an occupied home in, police said. The first suspect, Javon Deshonn Harrison, 26, was arrested Friday in Polk County on the same charges.

LAKELAND, FL — Update: Tampa police told Patch their officers assisted the Polk County Sheriff's Office with the arrest of Marcel Bruce, 28, of Lakeland, in Tampa Sunday morning on charges of attempted murder and shooting into an occupied home.

A 26-year-old Lakeland man faces charges of attempted murder and shooting into an occupied home, and his accomplice is still on the run, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.

Javon Deshonn Harrison is accused of shooting at four victims Friday at about 9 a.m. in the area of Fort Socrum Village Boulevard. One of the victims told investigators he was outside in the driveway when a black Audi that Harrison was in park near his home. The victim said he and Harrison went to high school together. The suspect and driver of the car walked over with guns, and fired shots at the victim several times, detectives said. The bullets hit the victim's home and driveway.

Authorities said the victim believes that Harrison thought he was involved in a prior incident the day prior, and that is why he shot at him. None of the victims were injured.

"Our detectives did an outstanding job and made a quick arrest," Sheriff Grady Judd said. "This was not a random incident, and the community can now be assured knowing the primary shooter is in jail.”

The driver of the Audi, 28-year-old Marcel Bruce of Lakeland, was still on the run over the weekend. He is wanted by authorities on charges of attempted murder and shooting into an occupied home, according to officials. Deputies think he is in Tampa.
