Sun 'N Fun Aerospace Expo Returns To Lakeland
Sun 'n Fun was cancelled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. It is back for 2021, and it's also honoring frontline workers.

LAKELAND, FL — Sun 'n Fun Aerospace Expo in Lakeland is back after 2020's cancellation due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The even kicked off Tuesday with air shows, featured aircraft and exhibits that can be seen through Sunday. This is the largest air show in the southern U.S, according to Sun 'n Fun's website.
"We know it has been a tough year for everyone, and having our event back is just fantastic,” John Leenhouts, president and CEO of Sun ‘n Fun, said. “We have a fantastic lineup of entertainment and education that will be a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone who attends. It’s great to be back.”

Sun 'n Fun also partnered with Lakeland Regional Health, and asked the staff to nominate one of their frontline workers to fly with a Blue Angel. Medical Intensive Care Unit manager Regina Wilkins was nominated. According to the Lakeland Regional, Wilkins has spent many hours working days, nights and weekends to help care for the most critically ill COVID-19 patients at the hospital. Wilkinson will fly with Blue Angel No. 7 on Wednesday during the 6-day event.
“It is an honor and privilege to be given this once in a lifetime opportunity to fly with the Blue Angels," Wilkinson said. "I have been truly blessed to work with such an amazing group of leaders and team members throughout this pandemic.”

CMO Greg Gibson said these people have sacrificed so much of their lives to battle this pandemic, we wanted to do something special for them in thanks for their tireless service to our community. LRH also donated 12,000 masks to the event.
