Tornado Warning Issued For Polk County: National Weather Service

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for Polk County. Take shelter now.

POLK COUNTY, FL — A tornado warning has been issued by The National Weather Service for Northwestern Polk County and Northeastern Hillsborough County until 5:30 p.m.

National Weather Service radar predicts this tornadic storm will be near Combee Settlement at 5:20 p.m., and will be near Lakeland around 5:25 p.m. The storm will move to Fussels Corner around 5:30 p.m.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Kathleen, Gibsonia, Polk City and Winston, according to reports by the Weather Service.

Officials urge residents to take shelter. Residents without shelter could possibly be in the path of flying debri. Mobile homes could be damaged or destroyed.

Across the bay in Pinellas County, WTSP reported that the tornadic storm produced damage in the Pinellas Park area on Wednesday afternoon.
