Winter Haven Varsity Golf Head Coach Richard has been playing golf since he was a teenager. He did not play golf in college choosing instead to join the U.S Air Force. Richard is a teacher at Winter Haven High School and decided to coach since he loves the game and the kids.
The 2017 season is off to a good start. The team consists of three freshman and a junior "Who can play"along with seniors Andrew Walker, who can shoot par or better and Nate Romberger who is a very solid player.
Richard says the key to a successful program is getting players to buy in on a year long basis. Richard sees the players from time to time off season. The players themselves are close and enter events yearly to strengthen their game. The 2016 team came in 3rd in districts in 2016 and they are hoping for better success in 2017.
