Winter Haven Suspect Wanted For Accused Shooting: Police
The Winter Haven Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for 39-year-old Elijah Cox, Sr., who is accused of injuring a victim.
WINTER HAVEN, FL — Detectives with the Winter Haven Police Department are searching for a 39-year-old man who police accuse of shooting in the head and face May 8 following an argument.
Elijah Cox, Sr. of Winter Haven has an arrest warrant for charges of attempted first degree murder and possession of a firearm by convicted felon. The 46-year-old victim was shot at Stanley Court Apartments, 320 Ave. U., NE, Winter Haven after Cox accused him of owing money to him three years prior, authorities said. A fight ensued and Cox left the property afterward, but later returned with a gun.
The suspect is accused of firing multiple rounds that struck the victim. Cox ran away after the shooting. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was in critical condition. He has since been released from the hospital and is recovering.
