3 Pasco Flood Relief Projects Get Grant Money From Feds

FEMA funding will provide $1.55 million for the Forest Hills Drainage Project​

LAND O' LAKES, FL - Three flood relief projects in Pasco County will be receiving money from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Pasco County Commission announced Friday. FEMA will provide $1.55 million for the Forest Hills Drainage Project to alleviate flooding issues that extend from Forest Hills into Country Estates in southwestern Pasco County.

Pasco County estimates the Forest Hills project will be completed within two years, at a cost of $2.07 million.

Pasco County anticipates final FEMA funding approval of $4.6 million for two other projects designed to reduce flooding during major rain events:

  • Zephyr Creek Drainage: South Zephyrhills near Oak Ridge Heights
  • Port Richey Alternative Outfall: West/Central Pasco County, near Gateway Mobile Home Park

Pasco County Emergency Management and Pasco County Stormwater Management worked to secure the funding through the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program for Hurricane Hermine.
