AdventHealth Connerton Celebrates $20 Million Expansion

LAND O' LAKES, FL — AdventHealth Connerton cut the ribbon on a $20 million expansion this week, allowing hospital staff to care for twice as many patients and their families.

The 22,000-square-foot critical care wing will provide 77 private rooms for patients in need of complex care such as ventilator weaning after leaving a traditional hospital. The specialty hospital is one of only a few long-term acute care facilities in Florida with an operating room and intensive care unit. Currently, more than 600 patients a year travel from across the state to receive specialty care at the hospital.

AdventHealth Connerton first opened its doors in 2009, caring for patients with multisystem organ failure, complex wounds, sepsis and head trauma. Patient rooms now have floor-to-ceiling windows and wood accents to help patients connect with nature – which is essential in the healing process and getting patients back to living a healthier life, according to AdventHealth Connerton CEO Debi Martoccio.
