Brick City, Tournament Player's Club Cited By Health Inspectors

Flies in kitchen, a torn cooler gasket and residue on can opener are some of the violations found recently in Pasco County restaurants.

PASCO COUNTY, FL – Flies in the kitchen, a torn cooler gasket, and residue on a can opener blade are some of the violations that Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation inspectors found recently in Pasco County restaurants.

Brick City Eatery, 16540 Pointe Village Drive #108, Lutz, was cited for 27 violations on June 27, including a produce sink in the food prep area with old food residue (an employee cleaned it); a ladle for marinara sauce hung from a pot handle exposed to contamination by hand sink (employee moved it); unwashed fruits/vegetables stored with ready-to-eat food (over cooked pasta); and encrusted material on can opener blade.

Wendy's, 1501 E. Hillsborough Ave., Tampa, was cited for five violations on June 28, including 10 live flies in front kitchen area, near cook's line and dining area; a wet mop not stored in a manner to allow the mop to dry; and a buildup of soil/debris on the floor under shelves.

Tournament Players Club Of Tampa Bay, 5300 W. Lutz Fern Lake Road, Lutz, was cited for 15 violations on June 26, including walk-in cooler with rust pitting the surface; floor drains/drain covers in bar heavily soiled; a reach-in cooler gasket torn/in disrepair; and cold food held at potentially hazardous temperatures.

In the last 30 days, 53 Pasco County restaurants did not pass the first inspection while 142 restaurants aced the first visit.

The inspectors made note of six Pasco County restaurants that passed inspections without any violations: Nekter Juice Bar, 3236 Little Road, Trinity; Burger King, 3063 Disciple Lane, New Port Richey; Breakfast Station, 21519 Village Lakes Shopping Center, Land O'Lakes; Plaza Mexico Restaurant Bar & Grill, 38361 County Road 54 E, Zephyrhills; Sliderz N More, 3031 Ellington Way, New Port Richey; and Stop & Play, 10933 U.S. Hwy 19, New Port Richey.

Note: Most of the restaurants with violations corrected the violations and have passed subsequent inspections.
