Capital Tacos, Hungry Harry's Reprimanded By Health Inspectors

Live and dead roaches, cooked pork ribs left on the counter and accumulated oven grease are some of the violations at Pasco restaurants.

PASCO COUNTY, FL – Live and dead roaches, cooked pork ribs left on the counter and accumulated oven grease are some of the violations Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation inspectors found last week at Pasco County restaurants.

Niko’s Grill at 14100 Hicks Road, Hudson, was temporarily closed on Jan. 4 after it was cited for seven code violations. It reopened the following day after meeting health and safety standards. Violations included 17 lives roaches and 30 dead roaches in the kitchen, an accumulation of debris in the dishwasher and rusty shelves in the cooler.

Hungry Harry’s Famous BBQ, 3116 Land O’ Lakes Blvd., Land O’ Lakes, was also taken to task by inspectors for having five code violations on Jan. 4. They included food debris and grease in the cooker, cooked pork ribs left sitting on the counter and a soiled cutting board.

For the second time in the past month, Capital Tacos at 6765 Land O’ Lakes Blvd., Land O’ Lakes, received negative reviews from inspectors. The popular restaurant was cited for 10 violations on Jan. 4 including leaky pipes, an unsealed concrete floor and missing floor tiles on the cook line, a walk-in cooler not cooling at the proper temperature and soil residue on a drying rack.

The Inn on the Gulf Restaurant, 6330 Clark Ave., Hudson, was issued a warning for 18 violations on Jan. 4. Inspectors found that the interior of the oven had an accumulation of grease, the walk-in freezer shelves were rusted, there was an accumulation of mold on the soda-dispensing nozzles and food was stored at potentially hazardous temperatures.

In the last 30 days, 43 Pasco County restaurants did not pass the first inspection while 50 restaurants aced the first visit.
