Female Law Enforcement Members to Discuss Careers

Saint Leo University's Adult Education Center will host the event April 7.

SAINT LEO, FL – Looking to showcase careers in criminal justice for women, Saint Leo University will host the Criminal Justice Speaker Showcase on Thursday, April 7 at 7 p.m. in TECO Hall in the School of Business Building at University Campus.

“Breaking the Glass Ceiling,” the topic of the showcase, will feature women in law enforcement who have advanced in their careers.

  • Chief Melanie Bevan, Bradenton Police Department, a 1997 Saint Leo Graduate
  • Major Stacey Jenkins, Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, a 2013 Saint Leo graduate and a current student in the criminal justice master’s program
  • Special Agent Regina Lombardo, Bureau of alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives
  • Dr. Christine Sereni-Massinger, former Pennsylvania judge and current Saint Leo associate professor of criminal justice
  • Chief of Forensic Science Donna Wallace, Florida Department of Law Enforcement

“We want to inform women of the opportunities available to them in the criminal justice arena,” said Dr. Michael “Rick” Singer, visiting professor of criminal justice. “These five guest speakers are excellent role models for women interested in a criminal justice career.”

The free presentation is geared toward students at all levels (undergraduate and graduate) as well as anyone from the community who is interested in a criminal justice degree or career.

“Students majoring in biology and chemistry may also be interested in talking with the director of the FDLE Crime Laboratory,” Singer said.
